Chris J. Coschignano is a Member and Partner of the Firm who concentrates his practice in the areas of zoning and land use planning, real estate law and transactions, municipal and legislative law, economic development and industrial development agency law, advanced litigation in state and federal courts, and matrimonial and family law. Mr. Coschignano has served for over 25 years in various municipal capacities, including over 15 years as a Councilman with the Town of Oyster Bay. He also devotes countless hours to many charitable and non-profit organizations, while still finding time to volunteer to coach youth athletics.

Firm Handles Acquisition & Zoning Approvals for Storage Facility

Christian Browne and John C. Farrell jointly represented a client in the acquisition of an office building located on Old Country Road in Hicksville. As part of the representation, the Firm also secured all zoning approvals necessary from the Town of Oyster Bay in order to allow the client to demolish the existing office building and to construct a new self-storage facility on the site. The client plans to commence construction towards the end of the year.

Special Permit Approved by Hempstead Board of Zoning Appeals

Tom McKevitt recently received approval from the Hempstead Board of Zoning Appeals for a Special Permit for a day care center in Levittown. The approval allows the new center to demolish a run-down residential home and construct a two-story, 8,900-square-foot building on that property that will serve over 100 students.

Daniel H. Braff to Serve on New York City Bar Land Use Planning and Zoning Committee

Daniel H. Braff was recently appointed to a three-year term on the prestigious New York City Bar Land Use Planning and Zoning Committee. This will be Mr. Braff's second time serving on the committee. He previously served from 2010 to 2012. The committee's main focus is on public policy and legal issues relating to the implementation and application of land use planning and zoning within the City of New York. The New York City Bar has over 24,000 members who work to provide assistance to the community, as well as legal professionals.

Michael H. Sahn and Nicholas Cappadora Offer Latest Developments in Williamson County Case

Michael Sahn and Nicholas Cappadora's article "Overturning Williamson County: The Shifting Sands of the Federal Ripeness Doctrine" was published in the September 2019 issue of Nassau Lawyer. The article was one of a series of articles that Mr. Sahn and Mr. Cappadora have written on the United States Supreme Court's overturning of its precedent-setting 1985

decision in the case of Williamson County Regional Planning Commission v. Hamilton Bank. In the article, they explained that litigation can assert claims under the 5th Amendment in federal court for a taking of property through land use regulation without having to exhaust state court remedies.
